In 2001, a bold indie film challenged our perception of what a sci-fi film could be. It was dark, funny, intimate, a period piece, and a coming of age story. The filmmaking was forward-thinking and highly stylized. A heavy dose of 1980's nostalgia also provided the story with a very unique angle for its time.
