$75.USD Non-refundable fee to apply. If approved, fee will transfer toward membership payment for the first year. If not approved, fee will not be refunded or transferred.

RULES and QUALIFICATIONS for ACTIVE MEMBERSHIP

The minimum requirement for Active Membership is three (3) years as a SOUND EDITOR or SOUND DESIGNER Editing DIALOGUE, ADR, SOUND EFFECTS, FOLEY, OR MUSIC in Film, Television, and Gaming Industries. An editor must have made in the judgement of the board of directors, an outstanding contribution to his or her field of endeavor. Assistant Editor, short films, trailers, commercials, all Mixing, Engineering, and Technician positions do not qualify for Active Membership.

Active members may use the initials MPSE in their credits, volunteer for Blue Ribbon Panels, have voting privileges in general ballot and board elections, and can attend MPSE sponsored events. They are also entitled to receive screeners and screening invitations from Marketing Agencies.

RULES and QUALIFICATIONS for AFFILIATE MEMBERSHIP

The requirement for affiliate membership is experience in the motion picture, television, and gaming industry with an emphasis on sound or music editing and administration or management of sound editors. This is a non-voting membership that includes: a person in a field or profession that is affiliated with sound editing indirectly, WRITERS (Trade and Script), ACADEMICS teaching sound editing, SUPERVISORS and MANAGEMENT, and other classifications whose positions are indirectly involved with sound editing deemed relevant by the Board of Directors.

Affiliate members may not use the initials MPSE, and do not have voting privileges in general or Board elections. They can attend MPSE sponsored events. They are entitled to receive screeners and screening invitations from Marketing Agencies and other studio sponsored screening events.

$75.USD Non-refundable fee to apply. If approved, fee will transfer toward membership payment for the first year. If not approved, fee will not be refunded or transferred.

$100. Annual Membership

RULES and QUALIFICATIONS for ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP

The requirement for associate experience is in the motion picture, television, and gaming industry with an emphasis as sound editor, sound designer or music editor or Foley artists whose achievements are deemed insufficient [for Active membership].

This is a non-voting membership that includes: SOUND LIBRARIANS, SOUND ASSISTANTS, all MIXERS, PICTURE EDITORS/ASSISTANT EDITORS, MUSIC COMPOSERS, and other classifications whose positions are directly involved with sound editing deemed relevant by the Board of Directors.

Associate members may not use the initials MPSE, and do not have voting privileges on general or Board elections. They may volunteer for Blue Ribbon Panels and can attend MPSE sponsored events. They are also entitled to receive screeners and screening invitations from Marketing Agencies.

The annual cost for Student members is $35 USD.

RULES and QUALIFICATIONS for STUDENT MEMBERSHIP

To qualify for student membership a student must be enrolled in an accredited school in the appropriate studies of Entertainment Media (Film, Gaming, Animation, etc.)

After three years at a Student Membership level, student members can be automatically upgraded to Affiliate Membership without a re-application process fee. The $125 upgrade fee will apply.

Student members may not use the initials MPSE and do not have voting privileges of any kind. Student members may not volunteer to judge on Blue Ribbon Panels


The MPSE is a 501(c)6 organization.
Payment of MPSE membership dues does not qualify as a charitable donation and is not tax deductible.
Dues may be tax deductible as a business expense. Consult your tax preparer.

Full details on eligibility, qualifications, and rights are outlined under Article III (page 6) in the By-laws. Article IV Outlines Terms of Membership. By submitting an application you agree that you have read the MPSE By-laws and understand that your membership is subject to approval by the Membership Committee and the Board of Directors.

The requirement for Affiliate membership is experience in sound or music editing, but not as an editor. This is a non-voting membership that includes, but is not limited to, assistant sound editors, librarians, recordists, production mixers, re-recording mixers, managers, and facility administrators.
