We kick off this series with MPSE Board Member, Charles Maynes, MPSE, who will be discussing “finding the story” with sound editing and design!
Charles has been involved with 2 Academy Award Sound Editing Awards, "U-571" and "Letters From Iwo Jima" and won two Emmy awards for best sound editing for HBO's miniseries "The Pacific", and the History Channel's "Gettysburg" produced by Ridley and Tony Scott. Recent work has included the CBS/Paramount Plus series Seal Team (7 Seasons and 122 episodes), and the feature films Evil Dead Rise, Extraction II and Terrifier 3. Charles has also developed a reputation as a first call sound effects recordist who specializes in firearms recording with over 40 weapon sessions experience. He has recorded and / or designed weapons for numerous AAA title video games and films such as Call of Duty, Medal of Honor and Black. Charles' other interests are historic research of conflicts around the world, and supporting NGO initiatives in response to them, and spending time with his wife and children.
