In 2003, an exhilarating journey into the ancient traditions of the samurai took our collective breath away. It invited us into a world lush with beauty, tradition, honor and deep respect for one another. Tom Cruise and Ken Watanabe's characters learned a lot from each other, and in doing so gained a much greater understanding about their cultural differences as well.
The film went on to be nominated for four Academy Awards, including for Best Sound Mixing. The movie also became a top-10 all time box office hit in Japan when the film was released, in addition to it becoming the 6th highest-grossing film of 2003 worldwide.
